  • Four Gold Medals awarded by the Royal Horticultural Society in London for paintings of mosses and lichens: 1984, 1986, 1988, 1992
  • One RHS Gold Medal (1993) and a World Orchid Conference Bronze (1993) for paintings of European and Australian Terrestrial orchids
  • After not showing for 25 years, another RHS Gold Medal for paintings of British lichens, 2018
  • Botanical artist to an expedition to the rainforests of Sumatra
  • Many successful exhibitions in Britain and abroad, notably at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, and in galleries in Brisbane, Australia
  • Work held in collections worldwide, notably the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation, Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, The Shirley Sherwood Collection of Contemporary Botanical Art, The RHS and RBG Kew
  • Founder Member, and Honorary Secretary for its first ten years, of the Society of Botanical Artists
  • Has illustrated, or contributed illustrations to, a wide range of publications
  • Recently retired from tutoring botanical painting courses and workshops, now delivers online workshops (click on ‘Courses’)
  • A committed member of several conservation organisations
  • Travels widely to study and paint native flora in Britain and abroad
